Welcome to The Clissold Arms

the heart of our community

At The Clissold Arms, we believe food can be an art form, perfectly combined with our passion for quality ingredients and a desire to create a menu that reflects our love of Greek cuisine. Our gastropub offers a unique and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a private event, night out with friends or a cozy dinner for two. Our menu features locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients and a selection of craft beers and cocktails to complement our dishes. And more importantly,  our venue has a longstanding history within the community.

Our dedication is always to be an all inclusive community pub, supporting our neighbourhood through various initiatives, with longstanding commitment to cultural, educational and charitable events. We host and support events that raise awareness for significant health issues such as cancer, brain tumor, ehlers-danlos syndrome, as well as being a main sponsor of a local charity, the Chris Harmanda Foundation, whose aim is to support less fortunate families during illness. We encourage social interaction and inclusivity by hosting a large variety of events in such a diverse environment as London. From live Greek and English music events, to quiz and comedy nights, wine tastings, chess, backgammon, choir evenings, even a knitting club and many more.

12th May 2024

Emily Balfour, a young woman borned and raised in Muswell Hill, suffers with a chronic health condition known as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS). EDS is an extremely debilitating condition that primarily affects young women. The sufferer is unusually hyper-mobile and experiences continually unbearable pain alongside multiple and increasing comorbidities. Sadly the treatment is not available in the UK. Together we raised funds through a raffle at our venue and raised awareness on the illness and #enoughisenough campaign.

Organised by Olivia Vincenti  the co-leader of Women's Equality Party Barnet Branch. The party also held their meetings with us between 2016-2018.

Thank you so much for allowing WEP Barnet to run our fundraising pub quiz last night. It made all the difference to our fundraising efforts.  We loved the atmosphere of the Kinks Room and the staff were very helpful. We were a small group of 11 but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the Clissold Arms food. I hope that we will be able to return to the Clissold Arms in future with other events. With much appreciation, Olivia Vincenti

I want to thank you all for hosting our Quiz Night. Everything was faultless from the amazing bar staff to the fantastic kitchen staff and incredible serving staff. The patience and enthusiasm shown by you all was incredible and we have been getting amazing feedback from people who came on the night. You helped us raise almost £3,5k in one evening in what was definitely one of our favourite events so far. Shira, on behalf of everyone at Max's Foundation

We understand the vital role of schools and charities, along with many other organisations which we supported throughout the years. We believe these initiatives will foster stronger community ties and empower more organizations to achieve their goals. One such case was when one of the schools was trying to build a dedicated library and performance space for students.

We proudly acknowledge the following esteemed organisations that have received our support:

  • Our Lady of Muswell Hill
  • Holy Trinity School in East Finchley
  • St James Primary School
  • Muswell Hill Primary School
  • Eden Primary School
  • Akiva School
  • Tetherdown Primary School
  • Saint Barnabas Greek School
  • The Manor Hill Independent Greek School
  • Queenswell Greek School
  • Martin Primary School
  • East Finchley Women Football Club
  • Age UK Barnet
  • National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children
  • Sunny Days Charity UK
  • Arachne Greek Cypriot Women’s Group
  • Muswell Hill Golf Club

Not only does the Clissold Arms support local charities but they are always happy to help us fundraise for the community school as well. The owner and staff are highly accommodating to our needs and we couldn’t be happier with this wonderful community pub.

In an increasingly digital world, book clubs offer a vital opportunity for genuine connection and intellectual growth within our community. Beyond discussing about books, these gatherings serve as dynamic hubs that foster a sense of belonging, intellectual stimulation and personal development along with promoting literacy and a love for reading. We are thankful for being able to welcome Russell Raphael's North Ulysses book club

2-3 times weekly.

North London Ulysses has been meeting at The Clissold Arms since we formed in 2019 to read Ulysses and Finnegans Wake; both books by James Joyce. Bianca and her team have always been so accommodating, finding us a nice quiet area in which we can be rowdy. Or perhaps they have been keeping us away from everyone else! Either way, we are so grateful that the pub has accommodated our passion. Long may it continue.  Russell Raphael

Quizzes, far from being just a tool for assesment, play a remarkably important role in vibrant communities like ours. The benefits extend beyond simple knowledge testing, contributing to engagement, connection (teamwork) and even personal growth within a group, promoting friendly competition. These events encourage social interaction and create a sense of belonging. Besides our charity quizzez, in 2024 we hosted regular events with Pat ''Have Mercy''- It's all about Disco Nite and Quiz, a Christmas Quiz with Shereen Roushbaiani on 11th December 2024 and the Norfolk House School Pub Quiz on 1st May 2025, with whom we collaborated many times in the past.

A truly fabulous night was had.  Everyone was a joy to meet and they all loved the quiz. The staff were incredible as alway. Pat ''Have Mercy''

As of 2025 we’ve seen 3 couples married, 3 engaged and several more (four or five!) happily together in relationships. The provision of dedicated spaces for businesses and organisations served as a cornerstone of community support. This represents a tangible investment in the growth and professional development of our local enterprises, ultimately contributing to the overall prosperity of our community. Clissold Arms is a warm, welcoming, and delightful community pub. Our charity meets at the Clissold Arms a couple times per year to host our larger meetings. There is a back private area, the Shed, which is perfect for meetings, intimate gatherings and private parties. The staff is always friendly and quick with service. We typically order drinks and appetisers and on our last visit we were all blown away by the quality and taste of the food. The owner told us about the beans, yogurt, and olives and was proud that he sourced the best, which we all agreed tasted divine.
